Tamara Newsom-Gapasin, Esq. focuses in the area of Military and Federal Appellate Advocacy, Medical Malpractice, and Civil Litigation. Tamara earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work in 1998 from the University of Missouri – Columbia, and attended law school at the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Law, graduating in 2001. Tamara worked with the State of Missouri in the Appellate Division for the Missouri Department of Social Services. In this capacity, Tamara learned by jumping in the deep end how to craft successful appellate briefs and critically assess cases for potential appellate issues. Even after years of practice, Appellate Advocacy remains Tamara’s strength and passion.
Tamara is a licensed member of the State Bar of Nevada, having earned her Nevada Bar license in 2001. In Las Vegas, Ms. Newsom-Gapasin continued her legal career with Tuverson & Hillyard, a premier medical malpractice firm based in Los Angeles, California. Tamara worked on multi-million dollar medical malpractice cases, often spending long hours preparing cases for trial, handling arbitrations and working settlement negotiations. Tamara also served as a Guardian ad Litem, and was a District Representative on the Executive Committee of the Young Lawyers Section of the American Bar Association for the Southern District of Nevada. In this capacity, Tamara and her committee planned and organized the 2001 Young Lawyers Section CLE held at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, which was attended by attorneys nationwide.
When the opportunity to work with one of the largest law firms in the State of Nevada presented itself, Ms. Newsom-Gapasin gladly accepted the offer and began practicing at the Law Firm of Thorndal, Armstrong, Delk, Balkenbush and Eisinger (TADBE). There, Ms. Newsom-Gapasin again focused her practice in the area of Civil Litigation. She continued working on Medical Malpractice defense, but also began practicing in the areas of Construction Defect (Mold) and Federal Civil Litigation. At TADBE, Ms. Newsom-Gapasin litigated many high end lawsuits for corporations in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, and quickly gained a reputation as a reliable, aggressive litigator at depositions, hearings, and arbitrations.
Perhaps her greatest strength as a lawyer, however, has always been her ability to strike straight to the heart of important legal issues. It is no wonder that Ms. Newsom-Gapasin continues to practice in the area of Appellate Advocacy.
